This article covers how to create and add a popup to a Keap™ landing page, including how to build the popup, add a lead capture form, configure popup display settings, publish the popup, and add it to a landing page. Why Adding a Popup to a Landing Page Increases Conversions
A popup on a landing page captures visitor attention at a key moment — before they leave the page or after they have spent time engaging with the content. Popups are effective for collecting email sign-ups, promoting offers, and driving specific actions. Adding a form to a popup allows lead information to be captured directly and stored to the contact record in Keap automatically. Popup form submissions can also trigger automation sequences using tags, connecting the popup to the rest of the follow-up workflow.
How to Create a Popup for a Keap Landing Page
-
Select Marketing in the left-hand navigation.
-
Select Landing Pages.
-
Select the Create button in the top right corner of the Landing Pages section, then select Popup from the dropdown menu.
The screenshot above shows the Keap Landing Pages section with the Create button dropdown open. Selecting Popup opens the popup naming panel.
-
Enter a name for the popup and select Continue.
-
Customize the popup using blocks in the popup builder. Available block types include images, buttons, and text. The popup builder saves automatically every 15 seconds — the autosave status and timestamp are displayed in the top right corner of the builder.
The screenshot above shows the Keap popup builder with the available block types and the popup canvas. Drag blocks from the left panel onto the popup canvas to build the popup layout.
The screenshot above shows the autosave indicator in the top right corner of the Keap popup builder. The autosave feature saves the popup automatically every 15 seconds and displays the timestamp of the last save.
-
To add a lead capture form to the popup, drag the form widget onto the popup canvas.
-
In the settings panel on the right side of the popup builder, configure the form fields and the visual appearance of the form. Custom fonts uploaded to the Keap Branding Center are available in the font settings.
The screenshot above shows the Keap popup builder settings panel with the form field configuration and appearance options. Configure the fields that appear on the form and set the font, color, and layout of the form in this panel.
-
To trigger automation when a contact submits the popup form, use the Apply Tag option in the form settings to apply a tag on submission. Configure the tag as the When trigger in an Easy Automation or Advanced Automation to start the automation when the form is submitted. See the FAQ section below for more detail on triggering automation from popup forms.
The screenshot above shows the Apply Tag option in the Keap popup form settings panel. Select or create a tag in this field to apply the tag to the contact automatically when the popup form is submitted.
The screenshot above shows the Keap automation builder with a tag applied trigger configured as the When condition. The tag applied when the popup form is submitted triggers this automation.
Note: If the popup form includes a State field, a Country field must also be included in the form for the form to submit successfully.
Warning: Popup form submissions trigger automation through tags only. Verify that a corresponding tag is configured as the When trigger in the relevant Easy Automation or Advanced Automation before publishing the popup. Without a matching tag trigger, popup form submissions will not start the intended automation.
-
Select the Popup tab in the builder to format the popup appearance settings, including background, font, colors, and position on the page.
The screenshot above shows the Keap popup builder with the Popup tab selected. The Popup tab displays the appearance configuration options for the popup — background, font, colors, and page position.
-
When the popup customization is complete, select Publish to publish the popup and make it available to add to landing pages.
-
After publishing, add the popup to a Keap landing page or copy the embed code to add the popup to an external landing page.
The screenshot above shows the Keap popup settings with two options for adding the popup — selecting a Keap landing page from the account or copying the embed code for use on an external page.
-
To add the popup to a Keap landing page, select the landing page from the dropdown. All published popups are available in the dropdown.
The screenshot above shows the Keap landing page settings with the popup dropdown visible. Select the desired popup from the dropdown to add it to the landing page.
Important — Popup page display order: The selected popup displays only on the page listed first in the page order on the Pages tab. For example, if the Thank You page is moved above the Landing Page in the page order, the popup will display on the Thank You page instead of the Landing Page. The popup settings display the name of the page where the popup will appear — verify the page order in the Pages tab to confirm the popup will display on the intended page.

No. All popups display automatically after 5 seconds. A custom delay timer for popup display is not currently available.
