Why Use Anchor Links on Your Landing Page
An anchor link is a link that, when clicked, scrolls the visitor directly to a specific section of the same landing page instead of navigating to a different page. A landing page is an individual web page designed with the specific purpose of collecting information from a visitor — such as a name, email address, or phone number. Anchor links improve the visitor experience on longer landing pages by letting you guide visitors to the most important section in one click. For example, you can add a button in the hero section of your landing page that takes visitors directly to the sign-up form further down the page, without requiring them to scroll manually.
How to Add an Anchor Link to a Landing Page Section
Step 1: Select the Button or Text You Want to Link
In the landing page editor, click on a button element to select it, or highlight the text you want to turn into a link. After selecting the button or highlighting the text, click the link button in the editor toolbar to open the link configuration options.
The landing page editor canvas displays the selected button element with a selection outline around it. The editor toolbar at the top of the screen contains the link button. Clicking the link button opens the link type drop-down menu.
Alternatively, the landing page editor displays a text element with a portion of the text highlighted in blue. The link button in the toolbar is ready to be clicked to open the link configuration options for the highlighted text.
Step 2: Select "Go to Page Section" as the Link Type
In the link configuration drop-down, select Go to Page Section. After selecting Go to Page Section, a second drop-down will appear listing the named sections available on your landing page. Select the section of the landing page you want the anchor link to navigate to when a visitor clicks the button or text.
The link configuration drop-down displays multiple link type options including Go to Page Section. The Go to Page Section option is selected and highlighted. A second drop-down below it shows the available named sections on the landing page. Select the section name you want the anchor link to target.
Step 3: Name or Rename a Landing Page Section
For a section to appear in the Go to Page Section drop-down, the section must have a name assigned to it in the landing page editor. To name or rename a section, click on an existing row on the landing page canvas to select it, or drag a new row section onto the canvas. With the row selected, scroll down in the configuration panel on the right side of the editor to find the section name field. Enter a name in the section name field to assign a label to that section. The section name will then appear as an option in the Go to Page Section drop-down when you configure an anchor link.
The landing page editor displays a selected row section on the canvas with a selection outline visible around the row. The configuration panel on the right side of the editor shows the section name field near the bottom of the panel. The section name entered in this field is the label that appears in the Go to Page Section drop-down when adding an anchor link.
